Fall Pastoral Conference to be Held in the Pacific Northwest

image[November 1, 2008] The St. Nicholas Cathedral in Seattle and the All-Merciful Saviour Monastery on Vashon Island are preparing for the upcoming four day fall Pastoral Conference of the clergy of the Western American Diocese. The official schedule of the Conference has been updated:

Monday, November 10
Travel day (accomodations for the delegates will be provided free of charge by the St. Nicholas Cathedral).
5:15 pm: Vespers and Matins.
7:00 pm: Dinner and fellowship.

Tuesday, November 11
8:00 am: Divine Liturgy.
9:30 am: Breakfast.
10:30 am: Moderated discussion – Hagiography and Secular Biography; the Life of St John of Kronstadt and “The Prodigal Saint.”
12:00 pm: Lunch.
1:00 pm: Opening Molieben.
1:45 pm: Welcome remarks by Archbishop Kyrill.
2:00 pm: "The Pastoral Work of St John of Kronstadt" – Archpriest George Kurtow (Monterey).
3:30 pm: "The Pastoral Work of the St John of Kronstadt Care Center" – Archpriest Stefan Pavlenko (Burlingame).
4:0 pm: Discussion of pastoral issues.
5:30 pm: Vespers and Matins.
7:00 pm: Dinner.
8:00 pm: Open Presentation of Pilgrimage to Ekaterinburg – Archpriest Serge Kotar (San Francisco).

Wednesday, November 12
7:15 am: Meet at the St. Nicholas Cathedral and board bus to Vashon Island.
9:00 am: Divine Liturgy.
10:30 am: Breakfast.
11:30 am: Film: "The Fall of An Empire: The Lesson of Byzantium".
1:00 pm: Group photograph.
1:15 pm: Monastery tour.
1:45 pm: Lunch.
2:30 pm: "Evangelistic Work in Nepal" – Priest Seraphim Bell (Walla Walla).
4:30 pm: Return to Seattle and Preparation for Communion.
6:00 pm: All-Night Vigil to the Royal Martyrs of Russia.
8:30 pm: Dinner.

Thursday, November 13
9:00 am: Greeting of the Bishop, Hierarchal Divine Liturgy and closing Molieben.
12:00 noon: Festal Luncheon.
