[November 16, 2008] On Saturday, November 15 and Sunday, November 16 His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America visited the St. Silouan Church in Walla Walla (Washington). At the Divine Liturgy Archbishop Kyrill awarded the parish Rector, Priest Seraphim Bell, the kamilavka for his service to the Russian Orthodox Church and his missionary work in Nepal. Vladika also bestowed upon Father Seraphim the gold pectoral cross in connection with the latter's appointment as Chairman of the newly formed Department of Missionary Work for the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia.
Following the Eucharistic Canon Archbishop Kyrill ordained Jesse Philo to the diaconate. Fr. Jesse is the parish deacon's (Fr. Innocent Philo) son and Fr. Seraphim Bell's and son-in-law.
This year the St. Silouan parish celebrates its 10th anniversary.
