All who visit the church remark on the quiet and calm that envelops one as you enter the gates of "Our Lady of Kazan." However, with the passing of time upkeep, maintenance and new provisions are needed so that "Our Lady of Kazan" Church can adequately continue to service our Western American Diocesan flock. We hope that, as the Church interior is restored to a more usable form, we will be able to begin to hold services there more regularly, to build upon the festal services already kept in the temple.
Already much has been done at "Our Lady of Kazan": from maintenance work guaranteeing that the attached house will not decay and fall into ruin, to recently re-enforcing the iconostasis so that it would not collapse.
A carved altar table and oblation table with priest's lectern were donated. Now the interior of the church is in need of adequate church furnishings. New analoys and carved benches were recently donated. Replacement of candlestands, analogions (lecterns) and proper chairs for priests and bishops are needed because time and disrepair have taken their toll.
As the archbishop of the Western American Diocese I am looking for those who are willing, and able, to take upon themselves the esteemed title of stewards of "Our Lady of Kazan Church." A steward is more than just simply a donor, a donor comes, gives freely and leaves, but a steward is one who gives and is also interested in the continuation of the presence of Orthodoxy in the Russian River area.
Currently, we are looking for individuals who are willing to give for the following items:
- Three candle stands made of brass and oak (sand type) to replace four candlestands that are in disrepair from years of usage - price for large stand $875.00 and the two smaller $825.00: Total price: $2500.00
- One revolving lectern stand, to replace two old decrepit stands, for kliros - $2100.00
- Two bishop/priest chairs, to replace damaged chairs - $275.00 each: Total: $550.00
Total amount needed: $5,150.00
We humbly ask for your support in the continued growth of "Our Lady of Kazan" Church and take upon yourselves the mantle of being a steward and preserving an Orthodox presence within an area dear to all those who love Holy Russia.
May God bless you for your kindness.
