On Sunday, March 15th, the choir of the Church of All Russian Saints in Burlingame, CA, presented a choral recital of prayers from Great Lent and Passion Week Services. The program consisting of hymns from the Lenten Triodion spanned chronologically from the weeks leading up to Great Lent through Great Saturday and featured works by pre-revolutionary and contemporary composers.
Bishop Theodosy, who attended the concert and the reception that followed, remarked on the importance of preserving the Russian Orthodox tradition of Church singing and of an appreciation of the great gift that composers of Church music have made to our Divine Services.
The “Choral Presentation Series” at the Church of All Russian Saints is intended to familiarize parishioners with the prayers that they will hear the choir perform in upcoming services, and in the case of this concert, also served as a brief musical Lenten retreat.
With gratitude for you your prayers and support,
Andrei Roudenko, Choir Master
